Our extensive experience in the oil and gas industry is demonstrated by the diverse and impactful projects we have engaged in over the years. Our expertise spans government initiatives, large-scale infrastructure projects, policy formulation, and consumer-focused LPG installations. Below is an overview of key projects that reflect our commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainable development in the LPG and Industrial chemical industry.
Government Tendering and Procurement
We have played a critical role in various government tendering processes, leveraging our proficiency in drawing up Terms of Reference (TORs), evaluating tenders, and overseeing the inspection, acceptance, and implementation of goods and services contracts. Our involvement continues to support efficient procurement processes for government projects, ensuring transparency and compliance.
Legal and Regulatory Framework Development
I played a crucial role in drafting and reviewing key petroleum regulations, including the transition from Legal Notice 121 of 2009 to Legal Notice 100 of 2019. As a member of a multi-agency technical committee, I helped shape regulations that improve safety and efficiency in the LPG sector.
Road Safety and Policy Contributions
As an active member of the National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) Road Safety Mainstreaming Committee and a board member at the School of Petroleum Studies, Kagwiria Murungi has been involved in promoting safety and education within the LPG and petroleum sectors in Kenya.
Mwananchi Gas Project
Involved in the Mwananchi Gas Project, an initiative by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining, I helped develop strategies for distributing affordable LPG cylinders to Kenyan households. The project aimed to distribute over 5.6 million cylinders between 2016 and 2018, with the consultant playing a vital role in areas such as pricing strategies, policy interventions, and project implementation.
National LPG Committee
As a member of the National LPG Committee’s technical team, I was involved in crafting Kenya’s LPG Masterplan, a key initiative to promote LPG as the primary cooking fuel. This project focused on increasing LPG consumption, developing strategic distribution plans, and encouraging private sector involvement through public-private partnerships (PPPs).
Clean Cooking Strategy
Contributing to Kenya’s National Clean Cooking Strategy, I worked on initiatives aimed at accelerating LPG adoption across the country. In collaboration with agencies such as Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the project addressed behavioral change, policy formation, and gender-inclusive approaches to foster cleaner energy use in households.
LPG Reticulation Projects
I've been fortunate enough to be involved in several LPG reticulation projects, and one of the most significant was the Proof-of-Concept project for the National Housing Corporation. We developed a blueprint for a scalable LPG system that could be implemented in Kenya's affordable housing initiatives. It was a game-changer. Not only did it demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of LPG reticulation, but it also set the stage for promoting sustainable and safe energy solutions across the country.
Consumer Installations and Infrastructure
I have overseen LPG installations at prominent locations, including the State House, Karatina University, and NYS Gilgil & Naivasha. Leading these projects as the main engineer, the consultant ensured compliance with the highest safety and operational standards for large-scale LPG infrastructure.
Technical Standards Development
As a member of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) LPG Technical Committee, I have actively contributed to developing and refining industry standards, helping shape a safer and more regulated LPG market in Kenya.
Market Analysis and Strategic Development
In consultancy work for Trinity Energy Limited, I provided in-depth market analysis and facilitated discussions on the adoption of Autogas, contributing to strategic decisions that support the growth of LPG as an alternative fuel source.
